Hello, I’m Helen, a Cotswolds Wedding Photographer, and I originally come from Northamptonshire where I grew up on a smallholding. I had a busy outdoor upbringing and so I’m a country girl at heart. I now live in Cirencester, the capital of the Cotswolds, with my husband and two boys.
Having ridden since I was a teenager, I have always loved horses. I am a qualified British Horse Society Assistant Instructor. And now the second arm of my business, is Horse Photography. I’m also super lucky that in my spare time, I ride a gorgeous horse called Bentley, who I share with a lovely friend.
My first career was as a primary school teacher and Key Stage One Manager and I have taught overseas and in the UK for 13 years.
I have always had an eye for a photograph and enjoyed taking natural images of country life at home and whilst travelling. After having my babies, I decided to ‘bite the bullet’ and turn a much loved hobby into a business. Over the years, I have found that my extensive equestrian and teaching background has been invaluable.
My love of the countryside and the natural world has enabled me to have a vast collection of country life images. This helped me raise money for a local special school by decorating a 6 foot hare with my wildlife photos printed onto tissue paper. And yes, it took forever!
My love for wedding photography came about unexpectedly whilst working as a second shooter for a fabulous wedding photographer. Whilst photographing the grooms preparations I realised that I wanted to be with the bride. And the only way to do that was to book my own weddings!
There’s a well known quote; “Choose a job you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life”. This says it all for me and I’m truly lucky be a Cotswold Wedding Photographer. And because of this, I am a committed and passionate professional. I’m good at what I do because I love it. And I love it, because I believe in it.
Every wedding is different and so my photographs for each wedding are completely unique. I will seamlessly blend into your day in order to capture authentic and honest moments. Capturing a look or a touch between a bride and groom always makes me smile when I’m editing. My photography style is natural and unobtrusive, sensitive and empathic.
Couples say I put them at ease and that this, in turn, helps them to relax. Which means you can really enjoy your day whilst I’m busy compiling a gorgeous collection of truthful and genuine images for your album. And if you choose my Folio album package, I will design your album, free of charge!
